Tsiri Rao now offers seminars and educational opportunities on sacred plant medicine, grounded in the healing traditions of the Shipibo-Konibo and in the sustainable, local cultivation of medicinal plants. The Mahua lineage is renowned for its experienced onanyabo (those who know how to heal), a legacy passed down across many generations. We are deeply fortunate to work with several elders of this family, who grew up in the rainforest learning from plants and developing a profound connection to medicine, spirit, and nature.

The Mahua lineage’s approach to learning from plants continues a rare and ancient path: coming to know oneself and the plants, while connecting to ancestral wisdom and the healing potential that exists within us all. The Shipibo-Konibo practice of samá, or plant dieta, is one such form of traditional plant education. It involves periods of isolation and abstinence from certain foods and energies, while forming an intentional connection with the energy, consciousness, or spirit of an ally plant. Through samá, students are guided into the realm of the plants, rooted deep in the earth and reaching upward to the heavens beyond. This is a rare opportunity to experience, learn, and practice traditional Shipibo-Konibo healing methods with some of the most knowledgeable living elders, while connecting with the essence of yourself and your plant allies.

We currently offer two types of seminars:

1. Samá for returning long-term students. Its duration varies with each student and their learning goals. For dates and availability, please contact us.

2. Payanti for participants who are new to Shipibo-Konibo healing traditions. This 10-day seminar includes transportation, meals, lodging, consultations, plant medicine learning, and integration sessions (schedule & details).

Seminars are offered to small groups in a safe and intimate setting in the Amazon basin, and availability is limited.

Seminars with the Mahua family are facilitated through Tsiri Rao LLC, founded by Dr. Coe, on a contribution basis. A portion of proceeds supports the Pacha Nishi restoration project and the Koshi Tapon youth apprenticeship, helping ensure that this knowledge is carried forward for future generations.
